The Workplace Experience Modules are designed to provide learners with hands-on exposure to real-world data analysis. Through these modules, learners will:

  • Collect, clean, wrangle, and process large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
  • Transform data into a usable format to assist organizations in making informed decisions.

Workplace Experience Structure

WM-01-WE01: Induction and Company Familiarization

Objective: Learners will attend an induction program to familiarize themselves with company processes, tools, and culture.

Activities:

  • Attend induction sessions and understand company culture.
  • Apply professional protocols and work etiquette.
  • Participate in company-specific information-sharing sessions (e.g., meetings, toolbox talks, power hours).
  • Learn and follow “working from anywhere” protocols.
  • Understand and comply with governance, ethical, and legal data requirements.
  • Observe company workflows, document process flows, and create workflow diagrams.
  • Gain insight into management expectations for data analysis and visualization.
  • Learn about business intelligence applications and decision-making processes.
  • Manage timesheets and develop self-management skills.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve common goals.

WM-01-WE02: Shadowing an Experienced Data Analyst

Objective: Learners will observe an experienced Data Analyst performing key tasks.

Activities:

  • Define and frame data-related problems with clear goals.
  • Break down problem statements into actionable steps.
  • Collect data from multiple sources (internal, external, primary, secondary).
  • Scrape data from the web using appropriate tools.
  • Utilize historical data and planned product changes for trend forecasting.
  • Access and log data into vendor-specific business intelligence platforms.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Clean, wrangle, and reorganize data for usability.
  • Extract and prepare data for analysis using queries and filtering techniques.
  • Develop basic data models and manage master data.
  • Observe how new data collection and analysis processes are defined.
  • Take notes on company-specific processes for future reference.

WM-01-WE03: Performing Data Analysis Tasks Under Supervision

Objective: Learners will conduct data analysis tasks under supervision to build practical skills.

Activities:

  • Define and frame data-related problems.
  • Break down problems into actionable coding and platform decisions.
  • Collect data from multiple sources and ensure its relevance.
  • Scrape, clean, and reorganize data using appropriate utilities.
  • Extract, filter, and prepare data for analysis.
  • Use spreadsheets, VBA, or other applicable tools to visualize data before analysis.
  • Develop and refine data models.
  • Manage master data (creation, updates, deletion).
  • Define and implement new data collection and analysis processes.
  • Obtain sign-off on accomplished tasks.
